Notes
- P. gingivalis was detected immunohistochemically in 61 % of cancerous tissues, 12 % of adjacent tissues and was undetected in normal esophageal mucosa. A similar distribution of lysine-specific gingipain, a catalytic endoprotease uniquely secreted by P. gingivalis, and P. gingivalis 16S rDNA was also observed.
- P. gingivalis infection positively associated with multiple clinicopathologic characteristics, including differentiation status, metastasis, and overall survival rate. (1)
Shared Notes
- [1.3]
- The presence of oral P. gingivalis and T. forsythia associate with an increased risk of esophageal cancer.
- P. gingivalis and T. forsythia are included in signaling pathways responsible for cancer development.
- T. forsythia may induce pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β and IL-6 by CD4 + T helper cells and TNF-α.
- gingipain K produced by P. gingivalis, affects hosts immune system by degradation of immunoglobulins and complement system.
